Children’s Hospital provides enhanced patient and family information New website is launched at www.childrenshospitallhsc.ca (LONDON, Ontario) – Today, Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre launched its newly redeveloped website www.childrenshospitallhsc.ca and announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with www.AboutKidsHealth.ca to provide extensive and kid-friendly medical information.

The new Children’s Hospital website was developed with input from patients, staff, parents and the hospital’s Youth Advisory Committee, whose thoughtful suggestions are seen throughout the new site: bright colours, patient and family friendly layout and design, information provided in concise and clear language, visuals of happy and hopeful children and information on all Children’s Hospital programs.

LHSC President and Chief Executive Officer Cliff Nordal commented, “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to launch a new and dynamic Children’s Hospital website, which will greatly benefit our patients, families and staff.”

The hospital also announced a new partnership with www.AboutKidsHealth.ca, which was made possible earlier this year through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding governing the terms of use of the site and information.

www.AboutKidsHealth.ca is an exciting and kid-friendly source of medical information for patients, families and anyone who wants to learn more about children’s health. Affiliated with the Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto), the child health educational information, offered in English, French and Chinese, is based on Canadian standards and current evidence, with high quality medical illustrations and interactive tools. Their mission is to improve child and youth health and enhance the quality of life of families in Canada and around the world. LHSC’s is proud to partner with AboutKidsHealth on this free, no-cost initiative.

Says www.AboutKidsHealth.ca Director, Dr. Ross Hetherington, "It has been a pleasure to work LHSC’s Children’s Hospital on this initiative. We look forward to collaborating with the paediatric experts at Children’s Hospital in the development of health education material for patients, families, staff and community based professionals."

The redesign of the Children’s Hospital website was made possible through the generous support of the Children’s Health Foundation.
